Understanding House Plan Copyright Policies
Every house plan sold through Green Builder House Plans is protected by copyright laws. All designs remain the rightful property of their architects and/or designers.
There are some basics you should know as a purchaser of house plans. Copyright laws as they pertain to the residential home design and building industry are as follows:
- No right or ownership of the plan is transferred to the purchaser. Purchasing a house plan grants a limited license to build that structure once.
- Purchasers cannot lend, give away, or re-sell blueprints.
- It is illegal to photocopy or reproduce in any form blueprints, plans, drawings, or any other related artwork without the written consent of the creator.
These general copyright policies are presented to you by our architects and designers. It is important to know this information so you can purchase the right plan package for you. You must purchase enough sets of plans to complete your home building project, or electronic plans that come with a limited license to print as many paper copies as you need.
