uly 14th celebrates the Storming of the Bastille in a holiday known as Bastille Day. It celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789 during the reign of Louis XVI. We are celebrating this historic day by looking at French Country style. It may seem like an odd connection but French Country homes and designs started appearing shortly after World War I when soldiers returned from war and began to build homes inspired by the French countryside.

In the last sixty years, French Country style has been a favorite among designers. The cornerstone of these designs is a mix of rustic yet luxurious design. While these homes may be adorned with casual fabrics and timeworn patina, it is not unusual to see luxurious accents. Here are some design tips to help you create a beautiful French Country inspired design.
